“And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.”
2 Peter 1:19
Many people have attempted to predict the future, sometimes with disastrous consequences. No one knows what a day will bring.
But the Bible contains hundreds of prophecies that have been fulfilled in every detail, most of them hundreds of years after they were uttered. Predictions concerning the history of the Jews: their time in Egypt; the Exodus; the destruction of Edom, Tyre and Nineveh; the Babylonian captivity and the return of Israel to the land; the reigns and activities of Cyrus the Great and Antiochus Epiphanes have all come to pass, verified by the recorded histories of other nations. There are predictions about Jesus: the time of His birth, the place where He would be born, the circumstances of His birth and dozens of other things about Him. It all happened as the prophets said it would. The rise of the Roman Empire was predicted in the Bible, as was the Fall of Jerusalem.
None of the world’s other major religious writings contains predictive prophecy: not the Koran, not the Hindu Vedas, not the Book of Mormon, none.
Only the One who controls the future knows the future. Only the One who knows the future can accurately and consistently predict it. Others might get lucky with their guesses sometimes, but not consistently so: not with the consistency and accuracy of the Bible.
Are the fulfilled prophesies of the Bible not further evidence that you can have confidence in your Bible?
